DIGIT-PRE project "Pain & Gain": Shaping the Future of Digital Pain Management

Pain is more than a symptom—it is a complex and personal experience shaped by biological, psychological, and social factors. Traditional registration methods, like short questionnaires, often fail to capture this complexity. The Pain & Gain project, a collaboration between WAVEUP and Kinetic Analysis, is redefining how pain is monitored and managed through innovative digital solutions.

Why Pain Needs a New Perspective

Chronic pain affects millions of people worldwide, limiting their quality of life and creating a significant burden on healthcare systems. Each individual’s pain journey is unique, influenced by lifestyle, emotional well-being, and personal history. To address this effectively, clinicians need tools that provide a comprehensive and continuous view of pain, beyond the clinic walls.

WAVEUP: Digital Innovation in Action

WAVEUP is a digital platform that allows patients to map and track their pain in real time. Using mobile technology and advanced analytics, it captures patterns and treatment responses that are often missed in traditional care. Patients are empowered to actively engage in their treatment, while clinicians gain reliable insights that support better decision-making.

Kinetic Analysis: From Research to Clinical Practice

In the Pain & Gain project, Kinetic Analysis ensures that WAVEUP’s innovation translates into clinical reality. With expertise in rehabilitation, research, and validation, Kinetic Analysis supports the platform’s development towards a CE-certified clinical tool, ready to be embedded in healthcare and research settings.

The Path Ahead with Pain & Gain

Under the European DIGIT-PRE initiative, the project is focused on:

  • Refining the user experience (UX) for patients and clinicians.

  • Testing the platform with healthcare practitioners.

  • Developing clear adoption strategies for integration into clinical workflows.

These steps will help WAVEUP evolve from a wellbeing app into a trusted solution for both care and research.

Towards Smarter Pain Management

The Pain & Gain project marks an important step toward personalized and data-driven pain management. By combining WAVEUP’s digital innovation with Kinetic Analysis’ clinical expertise, the collaboration aims to empower patients, support healthcare professionals, and ultimately reduce the burden of chronic pain.

Stay tuned for updates on the Pain & Gain project and how digital tools like WAVEUP are transforming the future of pain care.
