Kinetic Analysis and Disrupt win national innovation grant to bring smart textiles into the future of health and wellbeing. The future of stress awareness doesn’t look like tech. It looks like your favourite t-shirt. Two Dutch innovation leaders, Disrupt, a cutting-edge digital product studio, and Kinetic Analysis, pioneers in human motion and biosensing, have been awarded an innovation and valorisation MIT R&D collaboration grant by the Province of Noord-Brabant, in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and MidZuid, to launch BreatheWear.
The Problem: Stress Is Everywhere. But Still Invisible.
From classrooms to clinics to boardrooms, stress is the silent epidemic. It's chronic, hard to quantify, and often misunderstood. Wearables have tried to tackle it. But what if the solution wasn’t another device? What if it were already part of your daily routine, soft, simple, and wearable?
The Solution: BreatheWear
BreatheWear is a smart textile t-shirt that tracks stress levels in real time through embedded sensors that translate breath, motion, and heart rhythm into meaningful feedback. Disrupt leads the product development, creating a frictionless user experience that blends seamlessly into daily life no screens, no interruptions. Kinetic Analysis powers the science, translating biometric signals into insight that empowers individuals to manage stress with clarity and control. Together with Tilburg University, they’re uncovering physiological markers we’ve never had access to before—validating stress patterns and emotional cues once thought impossible to measure.
“We’re designing smart clothes that understand the body before the mind does,” says Maarten Gijssel, Founder of Kinetic Analysis.
Built to Feel. Engineered to Know.
Currently under development with pilots planned for 2025, BreatheWear is designed for high-impact environments, education, healthcare, performance, and everyday wellbeing. This isn’t just another wearable. It’s soft tech with a strong purpose: To help people feel better before they feel worse.
